We have been exploring different areas of learning through our text, ‘Supertato,’ by Sue Hendra. The children have been drawing pictures of ‘Supertato,’ and ‘The Evil Pea,’ whilst developing super hand strength!
We explored different materials, joining different pieces together in order to create traps for the Evil Pea.
We were having so much fun until the awful Evil Pea sent us a letter telling us he had tied up our vegetables! We used our super strength to rescue and count the vegetables! We were able to represent each amount using our fingers and Numicon. Our potatoes were saved!
We decided to make some ‘Wanted!’ posters to catch the Evil Pea once and for all! The children have been learning new vocabulary whilst talking about what the pesky pea did to the vegetables.
Thankfully, Supertato was able to trap the peas in some blocks of ice. We worked as a team, discussing different ways we might be try to be kind and rescue the peas. Our children had some fabulous ideas!
‘Let’s put some salt on the ice like they put the salt in the road.’
‘We can smash the ice with a big hammer or cut them out with a saw.’
‘We can put the ice in the sun so that it will melt.’
