Attendance

Attendance Information

At Thomas Arnold we belief that good attendance is
essential for achieving strong outcomes for pupils.

 Improving attendance
is everyone’s business. The barriers to accessing education are wide and
complex, both within and beyond the school gates, and are often specific to
individual pupils and families. The foundation of securing good attendance is
that school is a calm, orderly, safe, and supportive environment where all
pupils want to be and are keen and ready to learn.”

(Department for Education ‘Working together to improve
school attendance’).

UNICEF Rights of a
Child: Article 29 focuses on the aims of education and says that governments
agree that “the education of the child shall be directed to:

The development of the
child’s personality, talents and mental and physical abilities to their fullest
potential
(UN Convention on the Rights of a Child)

To fulfil this right, pupils need to attend school every
day.

We reward good attendance:

  • Weekly class attendance trophy in achievement assembly

  • Half termly 100% certificate

  • Full term 100% certificate and badge

If you have any concerns regarding your child’s
attendance, please do not hesitate to contact the schools Attendance Manager
