Thomas Arnold vs Southwood Primary was the last game to be played in the first round of the Parish Cup played on the 13th November. The first half ended 0-0 with Thomas Arnold heavily dominating. Although they played well, many chances were missed but the signs were encouraging. The second half saw an early lead and again a very commanding performance throughout.
However, the game turned on its head, when deep into the second half Southwood took advantage of a long ball that caught the Thomas Arnold defence out and levelled the game. The match ended 1-1 and penalties were needed to decide the game.
The penalty shoot-out started well for Southwood as they scored their opener and Thomas Arnold missed theirs. Once again Thomas Arnold boys showed determination and team work to hold their nerve and score the remaining four penalties. As a result they won 4-3 on penalties and move onto the second round of the cup.
