On Tuesday 13th January, year 6 braved the bad weather to visit the Docklands at War: 1939–1945 exhibition at The London Museum Docklands.

The children discovered how the docks survived and helped the Second World War effort, from Dunkirk to D-Day.
They watched a short film, with rarely seen footage, about how the Port of London Authority withstood fifty-seven consecutive days and nights of aerial attack.

As well as learning about the roles of the Auxiliary Fire Service; Mine Watchers; and the Home Guard, the children had the opportunity to try out for size some of the shelters that were provided to keep Londoners safe during The Blitz.
