ARP Science Day: Exploring, Investigating and Discovering!

Our pupils recently enjoyed an exciting Science Day, taking part in a range of hands-on investigations that encouraged curiosity, problem-solving, and scientific thinking.

Throughout the day, students became young scientists as they explored the fascinating question: “Will it float or sink?” Using a variety of everyday objects, pupils made predictions, tested their ideas, and recorded their findings. The activity encouraged learners to observe carefully, compare results, and develop their understanding of materials and buoyancy.

Students also investigated the power of air through a fun balloon and bottle experiment. By carefully observing what happened when air was trapped inside a bottle, they learned about air pressure and how invisible forces can affect the world around us. The practical nature of the experiment promoted engagement, turn-taking, communication, and collaborative learning.

The day provided valuable opportunities for pupils to:

  • Develop scientific enquiry skills.
  • Make predictions and test hypotheses.
  • Build communication and vocabulary related to science.
  • Practise observation and problem-solving.
  • Work cooperatively with peers and adults.

The enthusiasm shown by all pupils was wonderful to see. Through exploration, questioning, and discovery, our learners demonstrated that science is not only about finding answers but also about being curious and willing to investigate new ideas.

A huge well done to all of our young scientists for their fantastic participation and excellent scientific thinking throughout the day!
