Our pupils had an amazing time during this week’s farm visit at Thomas Arnold ARP! The playground was transformed into a mini farm where the children had the opportunity to meet and interact with a range of friendly animals including sheep, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and even a very confident chicken!

The experience provided a wonderful sensory and learning opportunity for all pupils. Many children showed fantastic curiosity and confidence as they carefully stroked, fed and observed the animals. It was lovely to see pupils engaging in their own way -from gently petting the guinea pigs to feeding the sheep hay and watching the goats explore their pens.

For many of our learners, animal interactions help to support:
- Communication and language development
- Sensory exploration
- Emotional regulation and confidence
- Turn-taking and shared attention
- Understanding of the world around them
We were incredibly proud of how calm, respectful and engaged the pupils were throughout the visit. There were lots of smiles, laughter and memorable moments shared by both children and staff.
A huge thank you to the visiting farm team for creating such an inclusive and interactive experience for our pupils. We look forward to welcoming them back again soon!
Have a great half term
