Reception had an exciting week as we welcomed a visiting minibeast workshop to support our topic this term. The children were fascinated as they met a cockroach, a giant snail, a tarantula and even a snake. We explored the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates, and some brave children even had the chance to feel the snake’s backbone. It was a wonderful hands‑on experience that brought our learning to life and sparked lots of curiosity. The workshop also inspired us to think about the creatures living right on our doorstep, and the children are now eager to go home and search for minibeasts in their gardens, under logs, stones and leaves.
