What a fantastic month we have had at school, celebrating all things reading! We were very lucky to be visited by the number one best-selling author and People’s Book Prize winner, Venessa J Taylor. She is the celebrated author of the books ‘Baller Boys’ and ‘Baller Boys Vs The Bulldozers’. During her visit, pupils from all year groups participated in creative reading workshops. We even had a surprise visit from Marley the Mascot!
Our pupils and staff blew us away with their World Book Day costumes. We hope you will agree that everybody made a huge effort on the day! We started our morning with a whole-school costume parade, followed by a visit to the school library, to collect our free World Book Day story. Then, pupils were introduced to a quality text that encompassed the theme of the day, ‘Celebrating Differences’. Rich discussions were had across the school, covering important topics, such as gender, race and refugees. We finished our day with a ‘Guess Who’s Behind the Book’ teacher quiz, which brought lots of laughs and smiles to people’s faces. We are already looking forward to next year’s celebration!
