Year 2’s History Topic this term was ‘Fabulous Females’; which saw the children exploring woman that had changed the nursing industry, including Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole.
The children were welcomed with a ‘blast from the past’ and were lucky enough to be visited by Florence Nightingale herself, to share her inspiring story. She told the children about her life as a nurse, her dedication to improving healthcare, and how she helped soldiers during the Crimean War. The children were fascinated as she explained how she used her skills to save lives and became known as “The Lady with the Lamp.” They were given the opportunity to ask questions which made the history lesson both fun and educational for all.
