Dear Parents/Carers,
We would like to inform you about the approach we use in PE to support the development of motor skills. At school, we follow the Fizzy Programme, a structured programme developed by therapists at Kent Community NHS Trust.
The programme is divided into three levels to cater to different skill stages:
- Beginners (Level 1)
- Intermediate (Level 2)
- Advanced (Level 3)
The Fizzy and Clever Hands Programmes are recommended by occupational therapists to help children who may find motor skill development challenging. These programmes are valuable in several ways:
- They assist in improving motor skills in a targeted and structured manner.
- They can help determine if a referral to occupational therapy is necessary.
- They can be used as an interim support while a child is waiting for an occupational therapy appointment.
Currently, the children in the ARP are focusing on balancing skills. To further support your child’s development in this area, we have attached a leaflet with activities you can do at home to build their gross motor skills and enhance balance.

If you have any questions or would like additional resources, please feel free to get in touch.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
