Our classroom became a pretend bus as the children set off on a learning adventure! With our chairs arranged in rows, everyone had a place on board and every bus stop brought a new question to explore together.
The children looked at pictures, joined in with actions and took turns coming to the front to share their responses. Our journey gave them opportunities to practise understanding questions, communicating their ideas and sharing attention with their friends.
What are Blank’s Levels?
During this activity, we used Blank’s Levels of questioning. These are four levels of questions, moving from naming and describing things children can see to thinking about what might happen next and explaining why. They help us choose questions that match each child’s understanding while supporting their next steps in learning.
Our bus journey brought these questions to life, making them part of a playful, shared experience. Alongside understanding and communication, there were opportunities to practise taking turns and participating in a group with adults nearby to offer support.
It was lovely to see the children joining in, pointing out details and having their moment at the front. Every contribution matters, and we are proud of our learners for taking part in their own way.
