At Thomas Arnold Primary School, we believe that every child’s voice matters. That’s why we were especially proud to see pupils from across the school including our learners in the ARP actively take part in our recent Headteacher for a Day vote.
The initiative gave all students a chance to choose which of their peers would step into the role of Headteacher for the day, a fun and empowering way to promote leadership, communication, and a sense of belonging.

For our ARP children, this was more than just a vote. It was a powerful moment of inclusion. With the right adaptations in place our pupils were supported to understand the choices and express their preferences confidently and proudly.
This event is a fantastic example of pupil voice in action and reflects our school’s commitment to equity, participation, and celebrating diversity.
We’re proud that all our pupils, regardless of need, were part of this democratic process helping to shape their school community, one vote at a time.
