What a buzzing and joyful week it has been in our ARP! Our learners took part in a wide range of activities that combined practical life skills, creativity, and community engagement.
Sensory Story Time with the Educational Psychology Team
We kicked off the week with a magical sensory story session led by the Educational Psychology Team from Barking and Dagenham. The session offered a fully immersive storytelling experience designed around our learners’ sensory needs. With textures, sounds, and interactive prompts, every child had the chance to explore the narrative in a way that made learning come alive.

Pizza-Making Fun – Bringing Pizza Express to the Classroom
Although our planned Pizza Express trip couldn’t go ahead, we didn’t let that stop the fun! Our learners chopped mushrooms and tomatoes, spread sauce, and created their own delicious mini pizzas. It was a wonderful chance to practise food preparation, fine motor skills, and most importantly enjoy their own tasty creations!

Science Week Explorations
Science Week brought discovery into every corner of the classroom. From sensory trays to group investigations, the children explored textures, materials, and cause and effect through play-based experiments. Engagement was sky-high, and so was the mess but that’s how we know it was a hit!

Life Skills in Action: Road Safety Walks
Out in the community, our pupils donned their high-vis jackets and took part in safe walking sessions around the neighbourhood towards the community garden. They practised crossing the street with adults, recognising safe places to cross, and developing awareness of their surroundings. These experiences are essential steps toward independence and our pupils absolutely rose to the challenge.

We’re incredibly proud of all our learners and the staff who make these meaningful, inclusive learning opportunities happen every single day. Stay tuned. There’s always more to come!
With pride,
The ARP Team
