Our ARP pupils recently enjoyed a wonderful Sensory Beach Walk, bringing the sights, sounds, and textures of the seaside into our playground!
The activity was carefully designed to provide a multi-sensory experience, allowing pupils to explore a variety of textures by walking barefoot across different surfaces, including textured stepping stones, soft towels, sand, and water. Pupils also had the opportunity to dig in the sand, search for hidden treasures, and enjoy sensory play at their own pace.
The Sensory Beach Walk supported the development of balance, coordination, body awareness, and motor skills, while also encouraging pupils to tolerate and explore new sensory experiences in a safe and supportive environment. For many of our children, these activities help build confidence, improve sensory processing, and develop independence.
Our staff provided the right level of support for each pupil, ensuring that every child was able to participate successfully and celebrate their own achievements. It was fantastic to see so many smiles, curious explorations, and proud moments throughout the session.
At Thomas Arnold ARP, we know that learning happens best when it is meaningful, engaging, and tailored to every child’s individual needs. Activities like our Sensory Beach Walk help our pupils develop essential life skills while having fun through play.
