This half term, we have been developing our understanding of time and seasonal change through practical, visual and interactive activities.
Days of the Week
Children have been learning to:
- Sequence the days of the week
- Identify today, yesterday and tomorrow
- Match days using visual symbols
- Use the days within our daily classroom routine
We practise this every morning as part of our structured timetable session.

AM and PM / Day and Night
We have also been exploring:
- The difference between morning (AM) and afternoon (PM)
- What happens during daylight and night-time
- Activities we do during the day versus at night
- Understanding visual cues such as the sun and moon
Children are beginning to link these concepts to their own daily experiences.

The Seasons
We are now learning about the four seasons and how the weather and environment change across the year.
Pupils will be taught to:
- Observe changes across the four seasons
- Observe and describe weather associated with the seasons and how day length varies
Through sensory exploration, discussion, visuals and outdoor observation, children are identifying seasonal clothing, weather patterns and environmental changes.

How You Can Support at Home
To support your child’s learning, you can:
- Practise saying the day of the week each morning
- Talk about whether it is morning or afternoon
- Notice whether it is light or dark outside
- Discuss what season we are in and what clothes we wear
- Use the shared documents and videos provided to reinforce vocabulary and understanding
Repetition and linking learning to real-life routines makes a big difference.
Thank you for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend!
