Our nursery children have been displaying lots of enthusiasm for our ‘Happily, Ever After,’ topic this week, as we introduced our new book, ‘The Gingerbread Man.’ The children listened carefully to the story and joined in with the repeated words and phrases. It has been lovely to see some of our children bring the story to life, by retelling the story using props and puppets in our story tray.
We have also been making our fingers strong by creating our very own Gingerbread family, using the playdough, cutting tools and buttons to roll, press, cut and shape the playdough into our characters from the story.
We have been pretending to bake our own Gingerbread Men in the role play area.
The children have drawn their own Gingerbread Men using simple lines and circles. Some children even labelled their pictures with their names!
