Basquiat Comes to Year 2!

This Black History Month, our brilliant Year 2 pupils dove into the bold, vibrant world of Jean-Michel Basquiat — a legendary Black artist known for turning city walls into storytelling masterpieces! From learning fascinating facts about his life as a graffiti artist turned global icon, to exploring the powerful messages in his art, our young creatives were truly inspired.

Armed with bright colours, wild lines, and BIG ideas, they recreated some of Basquiat’s most famous portraits — adding their own unique twist, of course! The result? A gallery full of expressive faces, scribbled crowns, and powerful imagination.

Basquiat believed “Art is how we decorate space, but music is how we decorate time.” — and our Year 2s have definitely made their mark on both!
