Year 6 – Stubbers Adventure Centre

On Tuesday 17th June, children from year 6 spent the day at Stubbers Adventure Centre in Upminster. Working in groups, they took part in bushcraft, axe-throwing, kayaking and climbing.

During their bushcraft session, the children learnt how to survive in the wilderness and used logs to build a shelter.

During their axe-throwing session, the children started off with a double-hand throw, followed by a single-handed throw and finally (and most frightening for the adults!) throwing two axes at the same time.

There were plenty of smiles, and by the end of the kayaking session, plenty of soaked children – thankfully everyone had brought a change of clothes.

If heights isn’t your thing, then look away now. There were some excellent climbers who scaled the climbing wall with ease.

The children had a brilliant day and it was great to see them: trying new activities; communicating effectively; and supporting each other, throughout the day.
