Year 2 were visited by a nurse from the local community to talk about her important job and how times have changed from the Victorian period. She explained how nurses help people by taking care of them when they are sick or injured, and how they work in hospitals, clinics, and even at home. The children were excited to learn about the tools she uses and had the opportunity to see how a blood pressure machine works and practiced finding their heartbeat with stethoscopes. The nurse also shared stories of how she comforts people and makes them feel better, inspiring the students with her caring and helpful work, with the key word of the day being ‘compassion’.
