Writing our own story

This term, reception has been reading some delightful stories and learning how to write our very own story. We have been exploring all aspects of a story and what we need to include, such as a main character, a problem and a beginning, middle and end. During Literacy the children brainstormed ideas and we came up with our very own story about a friendly Clownfish who goes on an adventure to find some friends. Along the way, she meets a shark who is hiding inside a sunken ship but she is saved by a kind dolphin that helps her.

The children had the opportunity to come up with their own ideas and share these with their class mates, as well as vote on their favourite idea to use in the story.  They even wrote their own version on the story in their Literacy books and shared this during a school assembly. They did an amazing job.
