Today’s activity – Choose a book/comic/newspaper to read for 20minutes.  For the last few weeks we have been working on expression. When reading what does a full stop tell you to do? What does a comma tell you to do? What does an exclamation mark tell you to do? Finally, what does inverted commas (speech marks) tell you to do?

Practice using all of the above and read your book with expression.  Once you have practiced reading with expression can you read your book out loud to an audience?

Today you are going to write the first part of your letter to Captain Tom.

Can you tell him a little about yourself? I would like you to really focus on using capital letters for proper nouns (names of people and places).

For example:

Dear Captain Tom,

My name is Sam, I am 7 years old and I live in Dagenham. I am in year 2 and my favourite subject is Science because I love to do experiments! I miss school but I am staying safe at home now. I am helping my parents look after my little sister Mia and we have also been baking some scrumptious cakes!

Click on the link below to open today’s Phonics PowerPoint, you will need something to write with.

50 Phase 5 se as z

Have a look at the PowerPoint on 3D shapes.

When you click on the shape you will see some real-life examples. Maybe some of them were the ones you spotted in your home yesterday.

Everyday 3D shapes

Activity: Today you are going to create an origami cube by following a you tube clip.

The first clip is a little bit simpler than the second one, however choose the one that best suits you.

You may need some help from an adult, especially if you are using a scissors at home.

*Again, we would love to see some pictures of these!

Once you have created your cube, can you count how many faces, vertices and edges it has and write these in your book. I will post the answers tomorrow.

Challenge: Watch the second video and record as many shapes as possible that you can see while the person is creating this origami cube.

Over the next few weeks we are going to be learning all about the seaside. Have a look at the PowerPoint and complete the activities. Today we are learning all about how sea sides used to be (the past) and how they are today (the present).
